emily & ben…the wedding

It was a whirlwind last year, baby on the way, move to a “new” city, hectic wedding season and suddenly its a year later.  I loved looking back threw Emily and Ben’s wedding the whole day brought a smile to my face.  Emily and Ben met as teachers in Teach For America.  Their wedding day was full of personal details, gold stars, donations to their favorite charity and above all a lot of love.  Emily and Ben were so fun to be around, laid back, took in the big and small moments of their day and of course are very in love.  We were so honored to be able to capture such an amazing day is this beautiful couples lives.

Emily was such a beautiful calm bride… and yes she was “stunning”

Love when couples choose to do a first look… Its such a special moment between the bride and groom

Ben is one happy groom with such a great personality, he and Emily go together like peas and carrots!

Since Ben and Emily met as teachers for Teach for America they incorporated lots of fun details … like these fun crossword programs for the ceremony

They also created a ceremony that was unique and held special traditions for both of them, such as Ben meeting Emily halfway down the aisle…

A friend and fellow teacher married them, and for doing such a good job he gave them both a gold star.

They choose to read children’s books to each other as a part of their vows, such simple uncomplicated professions of love was amazing to hear

The personal details were so fun and creative… paper airplanes to throw as they came down the aisle newly minted as Man and Wife!

Happy Couple… Golden light… perfect California evening!

We met their dog Hoagie at their engagement session, so instead of gifts they made a donation to the ASPCA, a favorite charity!

Always love this moment

And yes there was a a choreographed dance from the groom and groomsmen at the end of the night… it was epic.

Love.

caylinn & jordan… engaged

When we first met up with Caylinn and Jordan we instantly knew they were a great couple!  It was the way Caylinn lit up when she talked about the proposal “I was in a daze most of the night”  she described, and the smile that kept appearing on Jordan’s face as he listened to her describe the engagement, upcoming wedding and everything in between.  When it came time to their engagement session in Crystal Cove that same smile came across both their faces as we explored, talked about dogs, cars and watches amongst other things and had a great time!  We cannot wait for their wedding next March and are thrilled to be able to capture this time in their lives!

Caylinn is one of those girls with an infectious smile… She smiles easy and often and when you’re around her you find yourself doing the same!

When we met up the first  time Caylinn mentioned this car… that her dad bought for her when she was 16 to drive to school!!  We had such a fun time incorporating

it into their engagement session, very classic and very cool!

5.5 months…

It is crazy to think that its already been 5 1/2 with our girl… and at the same time its only been 5 1/2 months.  The other day Kyle and I were chatting and I heard myself say “remember when she used to do that,” and in that moment although its only been 5 months she’s changed so much its surreal.  I now get the whole you’ll understand once you have a kid mentality…life is so much fuller, yet so different.  We are learning that balance is overrated and flexibility is key, moments with our girl are fleeting and already seem like they are going so quick, and nothing warms your heart like seeing your babies face light up with the biggest smile.  This weekend  for the first time in a few years we have the entire weekend off.  We plan to do nothing but have lazy mornings, family walks, stick our feet in the sand and soak up every moment because to do lists, projects and everything can wait… like a quote I once read we want to  “Relish the charms of the present.”

We are working on a little monthly photo project…. Here’s month five and yes I am right next to the chair!

virginia & james… engaged

We had such a great time with these two in Newport Beach last October.   Strolling around the Balboa Fun Zone, taking the ferry, and ending up on the beach for an gorgeous California sunset…  As I was looking threw Virginia and James photo’s I cant help but be excited for their wedding next weekend…  Celebrating these two and the love they share is such an amazing thing!

We shoot around this area a lot, but each time it’s so fun and different to hear all the memories and stories couples have of Newport Beach

Virginia and James are moving up to NorCal… Hopefully these photo’s will remind them of warm nights at the beach

I love these photos…tell a couple to stroll down the beach and this is what you get… serious on the left… real life and fun on the right!

Such a lovely night with a beautiful couple…
