the collective… first edition. venice calif.

The idea is simple, there are power in numbers, two heads are better than one, its about celebrating possibility, because when you collaborate you can dream a little bit bigger.

As Kyle and I have ventured into wedding photography one of the things we found the most surprising, and the most encouraging is the sense of community that photographers here share.   We have been to a lot of different meetings/parties and have been so encouraged by some great friends we’ve made in the industry.

Inspired by the example of the photography community I thought why not do something that encompasses many types of vendors in the wedding industry, planners, florists, makeup artists, and more. We have had some great times and made some amazing friends with some of the people we have collaborated with and thought why not give that type of community a platform to connect, inspire and hopefully go create something amazing together!  So that’s where the idea for “The Collective” came about!

So last Thursday, we held the first Collective at Hotel Erwin in Venice Beach. Which, by the way, if you ever want to hold an event in LA I highly suggest Hotel Erwin, they are FABULOUS!  The day started out a little challenging as we were supposed to have the event on the rooftop and well..  it RAINED IN LA…  really rain!  Luckily we were able to relocate to the penthouse and had a great time!  It was fun to get to meet some new friends, hear about there business and make some new connections!  I left feeling inspired by the people I met who are following their passions, making a difference and building an amazing community!
