2011 was an amazing year for Kyle and I. While we were celebrating the holidays we took the time to look back in 2011 before we made our goals for 2012. As we looked threw the photos we took, and the peoples lives we got to be a small part of we feel incredibly blessed! Here are some of our favorite engagement and lifestyle sessions of 2011. stacy + mark… engaged!

It seems that life had intentionally been crossing Stacy and Mark’s path for a long time. They grew up in the same town, went to the same high school, even both played volleyball for UCLA. Threw it all they were friends until one day they both discovered they wanted to be more than friends. A lifetime of path crossing became a future of walking down the same path together. Mark and Stacy are a couple that just fit.. she’s tall, he’s taller… they laugh easily with each other and always seem to be in on some funny joke that only the two of them are aware of.

When it came time to do their engagement session they choose to go back to their alma mater UCLA! It is always fun to shoot an engagement session at a place that holds lots of memories for a couple. You get to hear old stories and memories relived and places where monumental moments happened… you get to see where the events that shaped life and love took place! We had so much fun exploring it all with Stacy and Mark and cannot wait for their wedding next summer!

ben + emily… engaged!

We met them on the corner of Abbott Kinney and Venice Blvd… Emily and Ben arrived with a few nerves, but all smiles for their engagement session! We walked around Venice Beach where Ben grew up, and listened to their story of how they met, how wedding planning was going and everything in between. We were so excited to get the opportunity to be a part of Emily and Ben’s big day! As soon as we met with them we clicked, they are fun, easy going and have the most ”ADDOORRAABBLLEEE” little dog Hoagie!

As the sun was setting we headed over to Santa Monica Palisades Park and met up with Hoagie. With the whole family complete it was a perfect way to end a great engagement session, a couple in love, an adorable dog and a beautiful sunset! It was an amazing day and we can’t wait for their wedding this summer!

sharon + kim… engaged!

When we first met up with Sharon and Kim and started to discuss ideas for their engagement, they mentioned the OC Fair. They have gone to the fair every year for the past few years and have so many fun memories there, we instantly loved the idea… and come on… who doesn’t love the fried Oreos at the fair! The morning of their engagement shoot IT RAINED… in the summer in So Cal! WHAT…? RAIN…! Thankfully the sun came out the skies cleared and we had a great day!

Sharon and Kim are one of those couples who have fun at all they do. They were constantly laughing in line, cheering when they won a game and just having a great time. We walked the fair, they went on some fun rides, ate an amazing funnel cake and got to know this amazing couple better. We finished the shoot at Crystal Cove beach, as the sun was setting we saw a different side of Sharon and Kim’s story. A quieter, gentle side filled with love and tenderness. We cannot wait for the wedding in October and are so excited to be able to capture these two amazing people together!

paola + jesse… engaged!

Paola and Jessie share that certain something… the love that two people can share together. When we first met up with them to discuss their wedding I watched Jessie’s face as Paola lit up describing what she was planning for their wedding day. It was the smiles and the small chuckles that came from him as she told us all about their big day. Jessie was realitively quite that meeting letting his bride to be describe her dream day. When we met up with them again we got to know Jessie, a bit quite at first, when he opens up he is the funny, patient, the perfect match for a bubbly Paola.

Being that the “The Happiest Place On Earth” is their favorite place we decided to take their engagement pictures at Disneyland. As we strolled from Adventureland, to Frontier Land it remeined me a lot of marraige. A lot of different worlds that two people are choosing to take on together. They strolled hand in hand pointing out their favorite rides and places, we laughed, took some photos and had a great time! We are so excited to be a part of the wedding this August when they enter into what is sure to be their “Happiest Time On Earth!”

erica + chris… engaged!

First it was an excuse to come over and ask a question about PR. The next time she just happened to be on her way to the kitchen to grab a coffee, and stopped by to say hello. When I was at Vans I sat 2 desks behind Chris, and I knew him pretty well. Little by little I noticed Erica was popping up in our department quite a lot, or Chris would “run over to the design dept,” a bit more than usual. It was the little giggles… the way Chris would light up when he said “ohhhh heyyy” to Erica that first made me take a moment to watch them a big longer and it was hard to miss, Erica and Chris liked each other.

Here’s the thing about relationships, in everyone the dynamic is different. When I think of Erica and Chris I think of two people that fit perfectly, not in a we’re exactly the same we just fit type, but rather they are two different people, who together make each other better and see themselves as whole. I have been able to get to know them both, first working with Chris at Vans, then getting to know Erica as a great friend, so I have seen how they have shaped this relationship. One where they put each other first, balance each other out, and remind each other life is not to be taken to seriously.

As we strolled threw their neighborhood in the Venice canals, laughing and talking I caught a subtle laugh they shared, and it was still there. Chris lit up the exact same way he first did when Erica used to “drop by,” on her way to the kitchen. I couldn’t help but think to myself how lucky we are to not only have a small part in these two peoples lives were blessed to call friends, but how unique and special they are… after all they fit perfectly!
