amy & jason… engaged!

He noticed that she spent a long time on a certain machine. Just walking away reading… Jason saw Amy come into the gym where he worked day after day, loaded down with books, which she would prop up on the machine and off she went studying and working out. Amy there to study, would set her elliptical on low and then pursue biology, physiology, and all things medical as she studied to become a nurse! As fate would have it one day they began talking and as they say, ”the rest was history!”

We had such a great time with Amy and Jason for their engagement session. A fun easy going couple we spent most of the time chatting, laughing and having a amazing time! They are a great couple who don’t take themselves to seriously, are very in love, and have an appreciation for each other that is easy to see! We can’t wait to for the wedding in June and hopefully we’ll see you both on the Price Is Right soon!

5 things… advice from real brides about their wedding day!

With wedding season in full swing we decided to introduce a new blog series, real wedding day advice from our past brides about what they liked, didn’t like, would change, etc… basically anything that they wanted to share! For the debut, Nikki, one of our past brides (whose wedding you can see here), shares her 5 pieces of advice from her wedding day! We hope these will help to learn from others experiences and makes your day even more amazing!

1. Choosing the same venue for the ceremony and reception “Getting married at a winery… they took care of just about everything for us. Plus, we could get ready on site which was lovely so we didn’t have to rush anywhere. We did prep, pictures, ceremony, cocktail hour and the reception all in the same place. Our venue also had an onsite coordinator that helped with wedding planning, as well as a day of “helper” who set up and made sure we were taken care of… this made it SO easy and we didn’t have to worry about anything since they had it all under control!”

2. Getting ready with just the girls ”The morning of and while I was getting ready, it was just me and the bridal party (with the hair and make-up ladies of course). A few of my bridesmaids commented that it was so much more relaxed without family (and mother’s) in there. This probably wouldn’t work for everyone, but was nice for us. Our closest relatives just came in right before the ceremony to say hello and that was it. It was lovely to just relax with my girls while we got pampered!”

3. Hiring Studio 28 Photo (I swear I’m not just saying this because this is for them). “Allison and Kyle helped us feel SO relaxed and at ease. It was great to have Allison in the room with the girls and Kyle with the guys and to not feel under pressure at all. We knew we were in good hands and they had everything under control!”

4. Stay focused on the marriage ”The wedding is fabulous, but it’s just ONE day. Throughout the entire process of planning, it was helpful to remember that this is ultimately all about a marriage together… not just a wedding. It took off some of the pressure of everything needing to be “perfect” and kept things in perspective.”

5. Do what’s right for the two of YOU! ”We tried to keep everything about what we like and want we wanted on our wedding day and to not listen to everyone else’s advice and comments. We did pretty good at this except at the last minute (during the reception)… the DJ felt that we should really do a “cake cutting.” Our dessert was mini cheese cakes and we hadn’t planned to do this. It really wasn’t “us” and though we ended up doing it, it felt silly and rushed and didn’t add anything to the night for us.

Part 1… The Wedding!!

We woke up to rain, not just a light little sprinkle but hail! The morning of Lauren and Jason’s wedding we instantly held our breath as right outside our door it poured! But then, in true Southern Cali fashion the skies cleared up, the sun came out and an amazing wedding day began! Not even a little morning hail could spoil a perfect day to get married for a couple perfectly suited for each other perfectly!

The day began and as all the girls scurried around Lauren helping her get ready, the smile on her face said it all! She was marrying her best friend, and could not be more ready! A perfect blend of the two of them, their wedding was a little bit glamour, a little but rustic and a lot of fabulous fun. Their first look said it all, a few tears of joy, and huge smiles spread across their faces as they saw each other for the first time on their wedding day! From the ceremony to the reception the day flowed seamlessly filled with lots of love, a few tears, laughter and a truly unforgettable evening! So enjoy “Part 1.. Its been a very crazy few weeks around here… Lots of changes coming and we cant wait to share them all! We are on the countdown to being done with some major revamps of our site and blog and are getting excited for the finished product! For now here is a little sneak peek of why we love what we do, moments like this unplanned, in the moment, less than ideal conditions (gale force winds) can make you stop look twice and feel so grateful to be a part of amazing moments in peoples lives!

mark & kimberly… engaged!

Cancun… Fresh off of high school graduation, both Mark and Kimmy decided to take a trip and celebrate on the sandy beaches of Mexico! Ready to say farewell to their high school years and have some fun, Mark came from London and Kimmy from California! There… far away from home they met and the sparks flew. Soon however, their week of celebrating was done and it came time to say goodbye… but for these two, that was no longer an option!

Fast forward 7 years, when we first met with Mark and Kimmy they had mentioned they had a mutual love of travel. We soon learned that love of travel was in part of how much they traveled to see each other over the years. Kimmy did a semester abroad in London, Mark came here, she went back there and over time these two realized their frequent flyer miles were getting old and they were ready to start their lives together in one place!

Their engagement session was on a perfect California evening, full of light and a great time. We had such a fun time at the Fun Zone in Newport Beach.. a place where Kimmy grew up, and cannot wait to be a part of their big day this September.

We have been back from our trip for just over a week now. Slowly settling back in to rhythm of life, getting caught up, doing mounds of laundry, and downloading and reliving our travels threw all our photos. Here is a quick snapshot of our time in London via all the instagram photos I took. I absolutely love to travel, I think I am my most inspired when I am in a completely foreign place and out of my comfort zone, can’t wait to show you the rest! Until then “Happy Friday.”

She was quiet that day.. A glass of champagne rested in her hand as hair and makeup fluttered around, family members came in and out and the day was in full swing, Erica smiled and took it all in. She had planned an amazing wedding in Paso Robles, and now the day had arrived she sat back, and waited for the moment when she would walk down the aisle. When it came she stood in front of family and friends and told Chris “you have shown me what true love is” it was one of those ceremonies that is so heartfelt it gives you chills.

The wedding day flowed seamlessly, a stunning location, a beautiful day and two people completely in love. After the ceremony, wine was poured, cheers and toasts were made and guests danced into the night! Erica and Chris we wish you two all the happiness in the world and cannot wait to see what’s in store for you both!
